Collected Roger Zelazny Vol. 2 Review

Power & Light: Volume 2: The Collected Stories of Roger Zelazny, ed. Grubbs, Kovacs, Crimmins. Yes. It continues to be a delight to be able to read things previously uncollected, and sometimes unpublished, though my delight is mitigated by some mechanical issues.
To start on a more traditionally critical note, I was interested to find a number of stories that could have inspired Firefly. One in particular has nearly all the elements: strong central authority making over planets in its image, and a wronged loner fighting back, albeit a bit more violently than our Capt. Reynolds.
As an sf fan bound for Comic-Con this year, I was impressed by Zelazny’s analysis of sf and comics (and film) fandoms and their mutual affinity—written in 1967, no less.
And now to the inevitable mechanical disappointments: One fanzine-published piece contained “…whom Mister Hewitt had assured Arnie were unimpeachable…” so I’m choosing to blame the editor, but the much-published “Devil Car” has “…whom he says have abused him…”, which hurts deeply to see. Also driving knives into my heart is the continuing occurrence of “latter” for “last” and the newly noted use of “phenomena” when the singular is called for.
